27 May Café Bloom – Home-grown country soul food
Off the R103 @ the Country Courtyard, Nottingham Road.
Open for over 10 years now and still serving their fresh, wholesome, country fare. This is an awesome spot for a great coffee, a creamy breakfast, a decadent, fresh cake or a healthy, home-grown lunch.
The restaurant style is country shabby chic with a mismatch of furniture and florals that work beautifully together. On a cloudy day sit next to the crackling fire with a warm blanket surrounded by arty ceramics and paintings. On a sunny day sit outside enjoying their beautiful gardens on the comfy couches or under the luscious grape vines. There is a wonderful relaxing atmosphere throughout which will get you settling in for a good few hours catching up with friends and family. There is also a nice kids play area so parents can sit and relax while children enjoy themselves. Kid-friendly venues with great food are few and far between on the meander so this is must for parents living or visiting the area.
They have great strong coffee on the brew as well as a lovely spicy chai latte available. All their food is freshly cooked with fruit, veg and herbs sourced locally or grown in the owner’s very own garden.
Their breakfast signature dishes include the hot smoked local trout fillet which is served with a creamy scrambled egg on wholewheat toast or a brinjal (for the banters) and their famous eggs florentine which is wholewheat toast/brinjal topped with creamed spinach, poached eggs, herb mayo, blue cheese, cheddar and herbs. They serve mainly vegetarian food but the menu is quite unique, something different to what you may find at other cafes on the midlands meander.
Cafe bloom has a fresh harvest table out every lunch time which boasts all types of interesting salads, quiches and hearty, homemade soups in the winter. They also have toasted sandwiches available for the not so adventurous. There is always a wonderful selection of homemade cakes from chocolate and espresso tarts to gluten free lemon polenta cake and sweetcorn and cheese muffins.
Grab your friends and family and head out to Cafe Bloom for a unique twist to healthy, homegrown soul food, a countryside gem with a friendly, warm atmosphere.
