17 Jan The Delicious Relish Cafe
Relish Cafe is the new restaurant at the Junction Center in Nottingham Road. It is right in the heart of Nottingham Road and this little center is the booming metropolis of this country town. My mom and I visited this spot in November and were absolutely delighted to see that Chris and Chantel had just taken over the restaurant and were about to launch a fresh, brand new Cafe in this well known posse.
The Junction Restaurant has always had the perfect location but without a great restaurant, changing management every couple of years, so Chris and Chantel’s takeover is welcomed with open arms by the locals, knowing they will bring a delicious menu and warm hospitality to the table (excuse the pun). Chris managed the Blueberry Cafe for many years and after making a great success of that decided to start his own venture. He definitely has the gift of hospitality and is always on top of the restaurant details. He makes his presence known to all their guests, ensuring everyone has an enjoyable experience.
Relish opened it’s doors to customers on the 17th of November 2017 and we visited them at the end of December and we were very impressed. The service was great and as soon as we sat down they brought menus and iced water for everyone. Their menu includes all day breakfasts like the wood-fired omelette and eggs benedict with salmon/pancetta and all breakfasts come with healthy bread choices including seedloaf, ciabiatta, brioche and even gluten free bread. They have a range of delicious meals on offer including wood-fired pizzas (stoneground flour or gluten free), burgers, meze platters, and delightful salads like their apple, citrus, pear and spinach salad or their crispy prawn and basil Thai salad. Their protein section of the menu has some interesting choices for everyone like their wood-fired Portuguese chicken, teriyaki rib eye steak, patagonian squid and loads more. To accompany your protein they have awesome sides like broccoli and bacon salad, aubergine stack parcel, chick pea yoghurt salad and loads of other interesting options. Relish also serve waffles which is always a winner especially when peppermint crisp or lemon meringue are the topping choices.
Relish has a lovely atmosphere, funky interiors and a warm, contemporary feel. They have ample seating space indoors, as well as outdoors, in the peaceful veranda underneath the shady trees. There is a wonderful selection of books and couches indoors where you can cosy up and have a relaxing read on a chilly Midlands day. The playground has undergone some changes with fantastic new additions which are sure to keep kids busy for hours with trampolines, ziplines, swings, slides, tractors and more. It’s a kids entertainment haven that gives parents a much needed break while kiddies get nicely tired out on all the fun activities.
For a fun, relaxing, lunch spot where the kidlets can burn off some energy and you can dive into a delectable meal then head on over to the new Relish Cafe. You can also pick up some personal spoils and gifts for loved ones while you are there.
