27 Nov The Midlands Kitchen – foodie destination
The Midlands Kitchen is the definitely the best new foodie destination on the Midlands Meander. If you are a local and haven’t tasted their dishes yet, you are seriously behind! Situated right off the freeway in Nottingham Road, exit 132, it’s the ideal spot for a delicious bite to eat on your way down to Durbs. This is a roadside eatery unlike any other, a total mind flip on the normal 1-stop service station. It is definitely worth driving a little further to stop at this spot for the excellent coffee and the artisanal foods.
The Midlands Kitchen have set up a large barn with a market style food court. They have 15 exciting kitchens with more flavour combinations that you can shake a stick at. The reason why I love this is that whatever you are craving you will find it here, everyone in the family can have what they want in one magnificent place. From Mexican, Indian, wood-fired pizzas, gelato to vegan, Mediterranean, smoothies, burgers and so much more.
You have the option of ordering from a specific kitchen or sitting in the main area where you can order off the combined menu. The service is friendly and fairly quick and everyone we spoke to who came to try out the new spot were delighted with their food. I ordered from the Falafel kitchen and chose the griddled chicken and quinoa salad, it was super tasty and healthy too. Their presentation is also really great, making it all the more appealing.
They also have a grab and go section which is home to the Soulflour bakery, an artisanal bakery baking fresh breads and pastries daily. They also stock delicious home-made pies and all the usual petrol station goodies.
For a roadside spot with authentic style and taste then be sure to check out the Midlands Kitchen. They cater for the healthy and not-so-healthy among us, so whatever you are looking for I have no doubt, they will satisfy. The biggest problem you will have is what to order, so come hungry and have a little bit of everything. I, myself, cannot wait to get back here to taste some more of those tantalizing flavours. Kiddies are welcome and will be kept entertained playing on the tractors outside.
Open 06h00 to 16h00 daily. Grab and Go section closes at 20h00.
