14 Oct The Rosetta Country Market – warm community vibes
The Rosetta Country Market is a charming community run market situated right at our local Rosetta Village Dam. A perfect setting for a country market with a scenic backdrop and rustic stalls that display all the local talent and fresh produce that Rosetta and The Kamberg has to offer.
The Rosetta Country Market is all about bringing the community together. Everyone knows everyone there and there is continual chatter in the air as everyone catches up on the week’s news. Visitors feel the warm welcome that is extended to everyone. It is a very relaxed morning out where you can grab a farm fresh breakfast, a delicious lunch, lunches or homemade treats for the weekend or stock up your fridge with fresh produce for the week ahead. The market is set out in the open so has a real country feel about it. You are not boxed into a busy and bustling building like many other markets are.
What makes this market special is that it is not only about showcasing local produce and bringing the community together but the heart behind the market is to uplift the local community. Stallholders pay money for the stall which goes into the community and the community stall at the market also donates 10% of it’s profits. Community projects include things like upgrading the local village with new trees and flowers, new benches for the dam, soccer kit for the local team and jungle gyms for our local Sibonokuhle Primary school.
There is a vast selection of goodies to taste and fill the senses at the Rosetta Country Market. The Coffee Guys are a mobile cafe at the market who deliver the finest espresso-based beverages from the back of a custom built van, keeping everyone warm on those chilly mornings. Jabu is one of our treasured Giant’s View staff members who has created some extra income for her family by selling delicious breakfast rolls and pancakes, always a favourite at the market. Franco is one of the friendly store holders who sells a selection of Italian styled charcuterie including prosciutto, parma hams and sausages. Delicious cheeses are sold from Long Shadow Farm House who produce a range of cheeses that are preservative and additive free. There is a delectable range of pates, dips and fresh soups at the Yummeez stall. Delicious homemade pies, authentic Thai dishes and yummy Indian curries are also on offer.
Farm fresh vegetables, eggs, milk and home baked goods are available at the community stall. The Rosetta Nottingham Road Conservancy also have a stall where they sell bat and owl boxes to help encourage owls to have a safe and stable environment in your garden. You can pick up some wonderful plants for your garden from Chris’s Nursery stall, some art to decorate your home and even some gifts for friends or family.
For a lovely morning out where you can experience a wonderful outdoor, country atmosphere while getting some delicious farm fresh produce then head down to the Rosetta Country Market. The market happens every second and fourth Saturday of the month from 8:30 – 12pm.
