Run ‘N Ride Trail Running & MTB Fundraiser

Run 'n Ride Race MayOn Sunday the 7th of May the Rosetta Nottingham Road (RNR) Conservancy hosted a fantastic trail running and mountain biking race at the Springvale Farm in Rosetta. It was a fabulous family day out with young and old getting stuck into the various trail running and mountain biking races. It started out with a chilly morning but quickly blossomed into beautiful day out with sunshine and blue skies for days. The event was a great success with 399 people competing. Fun was had by all and some much needed funds were raised for RNR Conservancy as well as some other local charities.

The RNR Conservancy decided to organise the Run ‘n Ride trail running and mountain bike race to raise funds for the conservancy to educate, preserve and protect our local environment. They also wanted to expose people in the community, and from the surrounding areas, to the natural beauty and wildlife in the area. The race was held at Springvale Farm and traversed Rosetta and Nottingham Road grasslands, farming terrains and nature reserves.  There were new tracks and trails for riders and runners to explore which allowed racers to take in the natural beauty and wildlife of the area. The were different races with various distances on offer including a 5km, 13km and 24km trail run and a 5km, 13km, 24km and 38km for the mountain bikers.

RNR Conservancy RaceThere was a great selection of food at the finish line market including curries, egg and bacon rolls, pancakes, boeries rolls, burgers, fantastic coffee and loads more. Medals and sponsored water bottles, energy drinks and energy bars were handed out to finishers as well as great prizes for the first home in each category.

RNR Conservancy Race BeautyThe RNR Conservancy is a fairly new organisation who does amazing work. Their heart is to promote the protection of indigenous plants and animals, streams, rivers and wetlands in the area and to encourage water catchment management to ensure good water quality. They raise awareness of environmental issues within the community and raise funds to help promote these activities. They work closely with local farmers, who are the custodians of the majority of the land, to pursue common objectives. The funds raised through the race will really help the conservancy to continue the great work they are doing to preserve and protect our environment.
